Web Service Calls to Edit Data Sources

When experimenting with the 'LOADDATASOURCE' and 'SAVEDATASOURCE' calls, I've found that only Data Sources at the primary org level can be targeted.

Can we add the ability to specify a Client Org in these calls?

Hi Ajinkya,

Thanks for reaching out with your Idea. Worth noting is the possible work around cited on the Wiki page wherein Data Sources can instead be created at a Primary Org level and then queried into the relevant Client Org.

Where your use case is editing Client Org Data Sources that re pre-existing, this does add a layer of complexity to the solution. In theory, it would be possible to query the current Data Source parameters using the 'METADATASQLQUERY' function in order to populate the relevant parameters. These could then be edited and saved into the Primary Org to allow querying them into the Cilent Org using the same 'METADATASQLQUERY' function.

One could even go as far as dropping and re-creating the target data source in this manner.

In the meantime, I've passed this use case along to Development for review as a possible Enhancement. I'll keep this post updated with further information as it is available to me.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ajinkya,

This is currently submitted as an Idea for Enhancement. These are created as candidates for Enhancement Requests. Before becoming a request, ideas will be reviewed by our Product Team and chosen for Enhancements based on feasibility, level of positive impact to the user experience, and votes from the community. I've gone ahead and created the Idea under your name, you can monitor the status of its progression here.

At this time I have no confirmation of whether this will be chosen for development. I will update you here as soon as I hear more.

Thanks,

Ryan
