Source information view > model

View > Model > Source information: When a single schema is not specified in the data source connection, Yf lists all tables in the database and as a user, I cannot easily see source information for that table (what schema is this table from) without adding it to the model and looking at the metadata panel.

In the prepare step, there is a toggle to see source info. Is there a solution for this in the MODEL step?

Hi Mandy,

Thanks for reaching out with your question. At present time there is not an elegant solution to show source info within the "Model" step of the View Builder. In theory, one could click the "View SQL" tab to show this information, however on views with a larger amount of tables and columns this may not be considered efficient.

That being said, I feel this is a great candidate for an Idea. These are created as ideas for Enhancement Requests. Before becoming a request, ideas will be reviewed by our Product Team and chosen for Enhancements based on feasibility, level of positive impact to the user experience, and votes from the community. I've gone ahead and created the Idea under your name, you can monitor the status of its progression from this post.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan, I just want to confirm that dragging to table in to the mode is indeed the only way to see source information?

Hovering over the table name doesn't seem to reveal any additional information. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Hi Mandy,

You're correct. At present, this is the only way to see source information.
