Filter Breadcrumb Missing Scrollbar in v9.2

Defect Fixed

My filter breadcrumbs aren't showing a scrollbar, so I can only select the first 8 items in the list. The workaround is to use the main filter in the Left Side Nav. (v9.2.1)

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your message. They were significant changes in version 9.2.2 with regard to filters that you can find here that might resolve your issue. So that I can understand your case a little better, could you please take a screenshot of the behaviour you are experiencing, as well as the workaround that you are using?

If this will include sensitive information, I will go ahead and move this to a private ticket.

Kind regards,

Simon

Simon,

I read through the 9.2.2 fixes, but I didn't notice anything that would address this display issue. I actually found two breadcrumb issues, but they might be related.

1) In this string breadcrumb filter, the scrollbar is missing. There are more than 24 items in this list, but I can only see the first 8.

2) This breadcrumb filter is based on an integer, but using Reference Codes for translation. The scrollbar exists in this case, but, only 7 items (ignoring min/max) are listed.

The Left-Side Nav works fine. Here there is a scrollbar and I can see all the items in the filter list.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for sending that through, and I can confirm after some testing that this is still a bug in the latest version of Yellowfin 9.

I've gone ahead and logged this as a defect to be assessed by our Developers, where I will get back in contact with you here with any updates.

In the meantime, In terms of the functionality of what you are trying to achieve, you might benefit from selecting 'Display Filter Values' in the Filter Formatting section, so you are able to view the Filter values being applied to the Report. This obviously won't be visually appealing if there are too many filter values, but it may provide some legibility in the meantime.

Let me know if you have any further questions, otherwise, I will get back to you with Developer updates.

Kind regards,

Simon

Hi Jason,

Just to add to the below. I've found a setting that also improves legibility of the Filter Breadcrumbs menu. If you navigate to Admin Console > Content > Report, you should have an option under the Layout section to have a 'Dynamic' Filter Breadcrumb. This yields a much better user experience, where the User is only shown a small number of Filter Values, with 'XX others' where you can select to enter into the classic filter selection window.

Let me know if either of the below solutions meets your needs.

Kind regards,

Simon

Simon,

Thank you for looking into this. I found the Dynamic Filter option; however, that was already enabled on my system. And yes, the show filter values option can be abled as needed. For now I will continue to use the Left-Side Nav to adjust my filters.

For the benefit of those reading this post, I want to clarify that when I said I couldn't "see" the rest of my filter items, more clearly I just don't have access to them. The breadcrumb simply doesn't allow me to scroll down and select items further down the list. So if I had numbers 1 through 24 as filter values, I would only be able to select from the first 8 or so.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for clarifying, I've provided a screenshot below to help illustrate. It must also depend on your screen resolution as you can see, I am able to fit a few more items before it cuts off.

I will get back to you shortly on the status of this request, feel free to add any more relevant information.

Kind regards,

Simon
