Excel Output: Filters Unwrapped

Hey

When we export a report to excel, with the filters shown, the cell which holds the filters value is a single, very long string which exported unwrapped.

It causes a widening of the first column.

See screenshot below

Hi Dor and Tal,

Thanks for getting in touch about this. I've tested this on my end and can confirm that I see the same behavior. However, I don't believe that this is necessarily an example of Yellowfin or the XLSX exporter behaving improperly. Instead, this seems to be an example of the software behaving as designed, but producing results that aren't aesthetically pleasing. So, I'm going to convert this topic from a Problem to an Idea instead. This will then go before the product team for a decision on inclusion in a future Yellowfin build. Please keep an eye on this post for future updates from us :)

Hi Dor,

Unfortunately no. The task is still yet to be planned.

It does however display ok when exporting to PDF. Is there a reason you want to export to Excel? E.g further data manipulation? Just wondering if maybe the underlying problem here is having to manipulate data in excel ;)

It is actually, for further processing, data manipulation, but we also have users that doesn't have Yellowfin, they're operative agents, which needs raw data for their work. :)

Thanks for the extra info, sounds like we should send them a free-trial ;)

Another thing to think about is the data transformation in 7.4, you could do all manipulation there, and then send them the report they would have wanted to create .

This idea was implemented in the latest 7.4.8. Change logs for the release can be found here.
