Hi,

We have running yellowfin application on one server, we need to close the server and move the application and Configuration Database to some other server. How we can perform this. we are using Oracle Database.

Is it possible to backup configuration database and restore on some other server and bind with yellowfin application on that server?

Hi Sukhwinder,

Apologies for the delayed response.

Short answer is 'ye' you can backup the DB and restore it on another server.

There are a few things you need to be aware of;

-The Yellowfin DB must match the version of the application you're using.E.g. If the DB is running off Yellowfin 7.3 May release, then the server you move it to needs to be running 7.3 May.

-The Yellowfin DB connection settings are stored in the web.xml

So on the new server, you need to make sure it's pointing to the right database

-Your new server needs to have a valid licence.

With that understood, it really is just a matter of ;

  1. Installing Yellowfin on your new server (same version as the old server).
  2. Backing up the DB from the old server, and restoring it on the new server
  3. Pointing your new server to the DB moved in step 2.
  4. Applying your YF licence

The following article may also provide some additional info 'Replicating your Yellowfin environment'

Hope this covers everything and please let me know how it all goes!

David
