Categoric kpi report fails when the metric is a calculated field

Hi,

I've tried to create a categorical kpi report with the following columns:

- Department (Keyed on)

- Invoice per person with metric-> calculated field: sum(invoice)/countdistinct(oiduser)

Once the KPI is configured, the results in the Output looks good but, after activating the report, it shows and error like "Error retrieving results".

After so many tests, I've realized the problem was the calculated field. Once I've changed it for regular metric field, it has worked fine.

Is it an issue? If not, how could I create a KPI from a calculated metric?

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Joan.

Hi Joan,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I was able to recreate the issue that you are noticing, and have confirmed this to be a defect. I have raised a ticket to address (#244633), which will be passed along to our product team.

In the meantime, I was able to successfully work around this issue by employing the "report from a report" functionality.

  1. Create the report 'data' as normal, including the calculated field.
  2. Save the report as a view. (see screenshot below)
  3. Create a second report, selecting the initial report as the data source
  4. Apply KPI functionality to the second report.

More information on the report from a report functionality can be found here:

I apologize for the inconvenience. Please let me know if this does not work for you or if you have any questions regarding this process, and I will keep you updated on the status of the defect ticket.

Regards,

Nathan
