Yellowfin storyboards - security
Completed
Hi, we had an enquiry from a client regarding the filtering security on storyboards.
He wants to know if when the storyboard’s get filtered down to user groups; whether any comments users within those groups might make are also filtered to within the defined user group they belong to. Could you please advise?
Thanks in advance.
Best,
Daniel.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for getting in touch. I am not completely clear on the "commenting on a Storyboard". Are you talking about editing the story board and putting comments directly into the storyboard directly or are you talking about Discussions with a link to the storyboard and people commenting on this? Can you provide a screen shot by any chance?
Assuming you are talking about Discussions, then if a group/user has read access to it, then they will see all comments from different groups. Also if a group has edited the Storyboard directly and a different group has read access to this then they will see the edit comments. Either way, if a group has been given read/view access to the storyboard or discussion thread, then they will be able to see a different groups comments.
Please let me know a little more about the exact section in question or if this answers your query?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,
Thanks for getting back to me.
Apologies if you found my initial correspondence vague. But I was enquiring about the case scenario you’ve first identified where people might comment the storyboard during any editing work. Could you please confirm my understanding that there is no currently security hierarchy for comments on storyboards?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Daniel Eyre.

Hi Daniel,
Yes this is correct, there is no actual security hierarchy on these comments in the storyboards which is by design. Would you like me to raise this as an idea for our development team?

Paul

Hi Daniel,
No problems. I have raised an enhancement ticket for this, but will not be able to provide any form of ETA on this, however if I hear anything from the Dev team, I will advise accordingly. Are you happy for me to close off this ticket for now?
Ticket: YFN-11719
