Yellowfin 7.2 AWS AMI build is missing the Google Maps API Key Field

Dave Madaras shared this problem 8 years ago
Resolved

Attempts to build google maps charts throw errors "Google Maps API error: MissingKeyMapError".

I've found similar issues raised in YF forums after a Google Maps API change in June 2016, and subsequent builds have fixed the issue.

However, the AWS marketplace AMI has an old build without the fix. Would be nice to have the AWS marketplace version updated.

Best,

Dave

Hi Dave,

I hope all is well,

Unfortunately we don't ship with the API Key as this is down to the user obtaining this themselves.

Going forward with this in order for us to correct this error we need to generate a new Google API Key, this can be done by following the below link:

https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key?utm_source=geoblog&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=2016-geo-na-website-gmedia-blogs-us-blogPost&utm_content=TBC

We have also put together some information on this via our Community post of: http://community.yellowfin.bi/topic/error-displaying-google-map-this-page-was-unable-to-display-a-google-maps-element

Having done this we then need to enter this key by following the below steps within Yellowfin:

Admin > Content Settings > Chart Settings > Map Settings

I hope this helps, and I await your feedback on this.

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for coming back.

My point was actually that the setting field you've mentioned:

Admin > Content Settings > Chart Settings > Map Settings > Enter Google API key

Doesn't actually appear in the build that's launching via that AMI. That screenshot shows that spot and is scrolled all the way down, but the build doesn't have a field that allows you to input your Maps API key. I have seen field setting on a later build, but not the one available via the AWS.

Best,

Dave

Hi Dave,

I would like to question what version of Yellowfin you are using as this option only came in to place from the 20160628 release, going forward with regards to upgrading your AWS we can do this by reading the below link:

Mark
