Sorting in Crosstab report
Idea Logged
We can sort as expected only if I keep single row field but some of our reports require multiple row fields in a crosstab and also sort by hires (descending order) as it is shown in the attached screenshots.
We would like to sort the similar reports (with or without sections) in descending order based on total number of hires. Please see the screenshots attached.
Does YF have such option to sort?
Hi Sadi,
Can you please tell me how did you get that totals?
I have done couple of different tests on the Crosstab reports:
If I do "Row Totals" on Demographic then I am able to sort on totals as shown below:
I can also sort on 2 Rows as below:
In this below example, I am able to sort on more than one Row without Totals:
I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if I did it wrong or if this is not what you meant.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards,
Mahe

Hi Mahe,
Thanks for your reply.
Your second example from the top is somewhat similar to our requirement however we would like to sort the “Total” in descending order. Can you do that?
Keep both Athlete Region and Demographic as being displayed in your example and sort by "Total".
Or, move Demographic to the left then Athlete Region. Athlete Region doesn't have to be displayed as grouped, it can be shown in every row. You can see the screenshots I already attached earlier. The issue is, we can't sort by the Total in such crosstab reports.
Let me know if this is still not clear, perhaps a quick screen share might help.
Thanks,
Sadi

Hi Sadi,
You can sort the totals only when you have one field in the row.
"Athlete Region doesn't have to be displayed as grouped, it can be shown in every row." We cannot do this and we have raised an enhancement request Idea - 745
What I have done is moved the Region to the Column and now I get the Total sorted in descending order:
Having 2 fields in the rows will not give us the Sorting option on the total.
If you want this functionality, I will discuss with the team.
Please let me know what you think about it.

Mahe

Thank for confirming.
As I mentioned in my original note, some of our reports require to have multiple (at least two) fields in the rows and ability to sort on the total would be very helpful in those use cases.

Hello I was wondering if this enhancement request will be addressed? I am running into a similar issue, where i need two fields within a row and cannot sort by totals because of this current behavior.
