Native Cluster Node Monitoring

Can we implement a way to natively monitor nodes of a Yellowfin cluster?
An example would be some form of notification when a node goes down, or a graphic showing currently active nodes. This will help provide some form of live monitoring or heartbeat monitoring for nodes.

If this information was available via an API (Just a JSON blob) it would be flexible enough to incorperate into a myriad of monitoring and alerting tools. Just food for thought.
