Hi,

We want to migrate Yellowfin from the Windows environment to Linux along with the configuration database. we have done some restyling on the application level so want to use the application as it is. Is there any way to copy files and deploy them on Linux just like windows? we want to install directly not on the container.

Thanks & Regards

Pratap

HI Pratap,

Thanks for reaching out. In this case you would want to do a fresh install of the Yellowfin application on Linux and add any custom files like CSS to the new application paths, along with any necessary code/configuration changes.

My normal recommendation is to either do a content export process onto a fresh environment, or use our replication guide as a template, depending on the scenario.

With upgrades, migrations, and deployment support, I would defer to our consulting department, as there are a number of things unique to each environment worth considering in a task like this, and is technically out-of-scope for support.

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your response.

The article https://community.yellowfinbi.com/knowledge-base/article/replicating-your-yellowfin-environment does provide information regarding fresh installation and points to imported Config DB. but my question was related to Application files migration from Windows to Linux environment.

Thanks & Regards

Hi Pratap,

Copying files would likely not work here; Yellowfin will need to be installed on the Linux machine for compatibility reasons. The installer would be the recommended and supported way of adding Yellowfin application files to the Linux environment. You can then add your custom restyling to the Linux installation. Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

Eric
