Limit Legend Entries

Not Planned

Currently the legend limit feature will remove the legend after the limit has been breached.

Can we include a setting that simply stops displaying more values after a certain point? (based off table sort order)

Hi Aaron,

I can understand the request, though don't believe this is something we will plan on implementing.

Reason being, if you have an extremely long legend which is based off a chart, then showing 'part' of that legend is misleading.

Though if the legend really is too long, then you should really look at limiting your actual data set.

E.g Use Top N function, make it user prompt. Or just use a report filter.

Is there a particular use case where this wouldn't work?

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

No worries, it was a request from a client as it’s an option offered by a competitor that they requested we match.

The idea being able to see the breakdown of all items, but also being able to easily see what the key items were at a glance – most likely via the mobile phone app -  but still be able to see the full detail if they wanted to –

Example from the competitors product

3c7abd5ed25505a188fe19caceeb2781

The top N option or filtering results would not give the desired result, as they want to see the whole picture.

Thanks anyway.

Hi Aaron,

Arr that makes sense.

I guess you could do something similar using 2 reports.

1 just for the chart

1 just for the legend. Which is actually just a table report and using the Top N function. You would then use an icon for these and color based on org ref code (which is based on the actual dimension.

Alternatively, you could prob do something similar with report summaries.

Thanks,

David
