Is there an option to change the color of the bars in a waterfall chart?

It would be nice to point out the positive or negative contributions to a total in a more appropriate color.

Hi Jim,

This is not currently possible, though I do believe this may be a viable candidate for a community Idea. It'd be great if you could set Conditional Formatting at the data level and have the bars match those settings. Would you like me to put forth an enhancement request for this?

Mike

Hi Jim,

Great! I've changed this from Question to a community Idea and created an enhancement request in our internal tracking system under 10063. Any updates regarding potential movement on this will be posted here.

Hi Mike, The enhancement is really what we want to achieve, which is a fundamental function provided by Power BI.

Hope you could help us to push this request to be achieved.

I agree the waterfall should be more flexible. Besides the colours I also would like to add to adjust the name of 'Total', now you can only change color and not the name. And also have a way to start the axis value dynamically, now you have to enter a fixed value to start with.

Hi All,

There is an update on this: we are currently rewriting colours for our charts. We're replacing the way colours are generated on the non auto chart category based charts. As such, this will be included in the scope of this refactoring.

I'll provide further updates for this as they come along, but there likely won't be update or a somewhat accurate ETA for these changes for a few more months.

Mike

Hi All,

These enhancements have been developed and will be found in our upcoming version 9. I'll update once more when version 9 is published.

Mike
