Is is possible to override default value of view filter in report?

Hi team,
I am trying to make reports me efficient by creating filters in the view so they can be reused and only cached once.
What I would like to still have control of is what the default value of view filter is for that report.
For example I have a view with an open/closed status field. I want to use this view for both 'open' and 'closed' reports. Some may default to closed, some omit etc.
I like this idea 
Hi Simon, yes this is my understanding. of how it currently works.
Could I suggest this as an enhancement, as for me the main benefit of view filters is not having to replicate caching values, but the limiting the default value hinders reuse with different reports.
