We do have many fields in one view and sometimes it would be very helpful to see which field is already used in the report.

May you think this could be built in?

It should be shown in the report build step. Maybe it would be nice to just tick the fields which are selected or to highlight them. Like the linking fields when you have set a drill down hierarchy. Do you understand what I mean?
