Dual screen option for reports

Not Planned

We get a lot of questions about a dual screen option to show 2 reports next to each other on a screen. Maybe a nice enhancement to show a report in a seperate window, next to an other report.

Hey Jurgen,

Thanks for the idea! From this short description, there are two ways that I can think of in Yellowfin where this is already (mostly) possible.

The first is a Dashboard. Displaying a bunch of different reports side by side is what this part of the tool is built for :) The other method that you could employ is the multichart canvas. With this option you will be reporting off of one the same dataset, but it would allow you to present side by side visualizations.

However, if these methods don't meet your needs, could you provide some additional detail about your specific use case and how we can make Yellowfin better able to meet it? Some dummy screenshots would be really helpful as well.

Thanks!

Hello Conner,

Yes you are right, those have the ability to show reports next to each other. The question of 'dual reports' I get from finance, they have figures they want to check. For instance bookings in a General Ledger compared to actual sales booked in the cash registry. They use Yellowfin like finance uses Excel, check and cross-check.

So if you had 2 screens (of pop-ups) that you can put next to each other and drill/filter/etc. on both reports as separate instances. Like Windows 10 does, split screen in the middle.

You can do, with 2 browsers and 2 licenses. You login twice, it would be nice to have such functionality with just one license on the same computer (browser). Like to image I've attached.

Hi Jurgen,

Thanks for the further explanation, that really clears things up! I can see how this would be useful, but I'm not currently aware of any plans to move in this direction. I will definitely leave this one open so that the product team can have a look and decide on if it will be included in a future version of Yellowfin. In the meantime, I think that having a dashboard with side-by-side reports that drill independently would be the best approach in the meantime.

Keep your eyes on this space for an update from the product guys!

Thanks,

Yup correct on the no plans to support as yet.

Best option is using 2 different YF user accounts and using incognito option so the sessions do not get confused.

Of course we can revisit if we get enough demand for it.

Sorry for the bad news!

Regards,

David
