Drill anywhere menus getting stuck
Resolved
Hello,
This was brought to my attention by one of our users.
You can open up multiple drill anywhere menus when a menu is already open or you click too fast. In that case only the last menu is usable, the others are stuck on the screen making the dashboards unusable. The only way to get rid of them is to refresh the page or leave the Dashboard tab.
Hi Siim,
Thanks for reaching out. I'm not sure what exactly you mean. Can you elaborate on the behavior you're experiencing along with corresponding screenshots? I'm not seeing any issues adding several Drill Anywhere reports to a dashboard:
If I click anywhere along the Drill Anywhere path, the data changes to the correct values.
Thanks,
Mike

If you try to open the drill menu too fast for the system to automatically close the already open drill menu (a regular doubleclick is enough when I try) then the old one wont close and is unusable.

Hi Siim,
Thanks for your response. I understand your question now. I've set up my report to approximate yours and clicked around as much and as fast as possible, but I'm not able to replicate this behavior, which is expected behavior, since one window should be opened at a time. It seems unlikely this is an issue directly related to Yellowfin. This sounds like either a browser or memory issue. Does this occur on other browsers? If so, how much memory is allocated to your Yellowfin instance? If you run Task Manager while running this report and clicking the drill links, is your CPU and/or memory usage extraordinarily high?
Regards,
Mike

This happened on both Chrome (what I used initially) and Edge and during it CPU load stayed below 30%, and in resource monitor no single core showed significant load. Memory usage was consistent during the quick test, with total usage being around 61%. It might have been slightly harder to make it happen for the first time with Edge but next times after refresh it was as easy.

Hi Siim,
I believe those pop-ups are JavaScript, so they don't show up in our logs. Do you see any error messages in the Console of the F12 Developer Tools?

Hi Siim,
Are you doing any custom integrations? That is one of the more likely scenarios I can come up with in why this would be happening. Can you also send me a copy of your entire appserver folder? You can upload files here: https://yellowfin.brickftp.com. Just please label the file with something indicating it's your upload!
