Design Widgets in Report Builder not available if only one chart is created

Hi,

In the Report Builder-Design tab the Widgets (Chart, Text, Image, Shape) are only available if the is more than one chart in the report.

Where there is only one chart these widgets are not shown in the left hand bar.

Can you look at a fix so that this capability is available for single chart reports

Hi Paul,

Thank you for reaching out. This is not currently a feature in Yellowfin. What I can do is go ahead and create an enhancement request so that this may be considered for future development? Let me know if that's something you'd like to do.

Just to let you know I have now assigned this post and will be giving updates from now on

It looks like the other clients requesting this feature were not actually added to the list of clients requesting the feature, in the development task

I have now added your company and the other company names (who have requested this) to the list

The more clients we have requesting an idea, the better the chance it has on making it into a future release :)

Hopefully this will now make a difference - I will update this idea post with any progress on this

Hi Lesley,

Following on from these requests, I would like it that you always have the design canvas. In other words, you shouldn't have to create nonsense charts just to get the design canvas and associated widgets to show.

This is especially important when sharing the ability to design presentations and dashboards with other users, who don't have access to create reports. They need to only see thumbnails of the relevant objects - i.e. table, real ... but not nonsense charts! Added to this would be the ability to give charts a thumbnail name, so that these display in the thumbnails when selecting/swapping out a visualisation. It is too difficult at the moment to differentiate charts in the same report.

I have also forwarded on you feedback regarding this idea

Just to add, in regards to having access to the canvas in the design tab, you don't actually need to create any charts at all !

All you need to do to have the canvas available is have at least 2 empty chart pages

For example, when creating multiple charts on 1 report you will 'add' another chart page/ builder at the bottom right hand side of the page, however, instead of creating charts, you can just click that 'add' button and have 2 empty chart builders - this will result in the canvas feature being available to use

So you don't have to waste any time actually building any charts :)
