Cross Tab reports can conditionally format row headers but not column headers? Why not?

Resolved

I have a very simple cross tab report (table) that shows employees on one axis and the count of their performed inspections on the other axis. Inspections can be too short, too long, or just right. I want to apply conditional formatting so that good inspections are green, bad are red, etc. This works fine when the inspection status is in the row (see attached picture), but I have more employees than statuses, so I'd like the statuses to be the columns and the employees to be the rows. Should be easy right? Should just get nicely formatted column headers instead of row headers right?

Nope...for some reason the software is perfectly capable of formatting row headers but inexplicably prohibits you from formatting column headers. Makes no sense at all.

Hi Stephen,

that is correct, cross tab reports can conditionally format row headers but not column headers. It is not a bug, it is just the current scope of conditional formatting in cross tab reports. As to why this is so, I'm sorry but I do not know.

Please feel free to raise an Idea within the Yellowfin Community for this new functionality, or if you'd like, I can convert this current Problem into an Idea, just let me know!

David

Thanks for your response David.

To me this is an oversight. You should be able to format columns the same as rows. The developers decision to provide no explanation of why this seemingly obvious feature was excluded just adds to my frustration.

If you think changing this from a problem to an idea is more likely to get it fixed, by all means please go ahead.

Hi Stephen,

yes I agree that it would be nice to be able to conditionally format columns in cross tab reports, so I have raised that Idea (8359) for you, and then in turn I have raised an internal enhancement request (YFN-10478).

regards,

David
