Broadcast dashboard to email address

Hi, I've had a quick search of the community/wiki/release notes so apologies if I've missed the answer elsewhere.

Can a dashboard be broadcasted to an email address, ie not a recognised YF user?

As an example, the report itself an be broadcasted to an email address, the dash it is on is Public, but I can only add users/groups to the dash broadcast.

Thanks,

Brendan

Hi Brendan,

Thanks for reaching out to support. This feature is available as a premium add-on.

Email Address

You can insert an external email address so that the report can be sent to external users. Ensure that it is a valid email address.

Note: this function depends on your licence options.

So first thing to check is the license details or the <url>/info.jsp page for the Multicast feature to be enabled. 02e575e7c7d3c9900ffedda677109b65

The "multicast reports" function needs to be enabled at the User Role level - 585a74d5dc9d948933cae1a138e28bd3

The content should be set to "unsecure" for this function to work.

Once this is set up, if you enter the email address and hit enter, does the email address remain in the box in black?

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your response - we have multicast and can send reports to unsecure users on a broadcast set against a report, it's more a question of why we can't do that on a dashboard broadcast (displaying a report than can be multicast).

Cheers,

Brendan

Hi Brendan,

Thanks for the update, I can also see that there's no option to mark a dashboard as "unsecure" as saving, and if I then try to use an unassigned email address in the dashboard broadcast creator, Yellowfin doesn't let meadd the address, even though I have multicast enabled and can do the same for reports.

So I checked our dev platform, and saw an interesting task, marked "fixed" as of 9.3 -

Disable external broadcasts for dashboards

When setting up a broadcast to external recipients it fails due to a guest role not being able to be setup. For 9.3 we will be disabling these type of broadcasts and look into re-enabling them for 9.4.

The related task -

Allow dashboard broadcast to external addresses

Allow for dashboards to be broadcast to external addresses (i.e. entering an email address while creating the broadcast or using a recipient report).

Remains unresolved. So I think I can add your organization as an affected client and try to get this task prioritized on your behalf, if there is a use case or impact statement I can provide, does that sound like the right way forward here?

Thanks,

Eric

Hi Eric, ok great, glad you're able to confirm that behaviour on your end and why that is.

Yes please if you could add us as an affected client as it'd be good to address, particularly as it was raised by a client (of ours) who use analytics heavily for their day-to-day operations and increased use of dashboards to display and distribute data and insights of their recruitment processes.

A case study involves broadcasting dashboards displaying jobs and candidates at specific steps of the process to alert different teams as to what is overdue and needs actioning, as well as overall insights in to the taken at each stage of the process, to users/emails that don't have access to the analytics module (or even our system, like workforce team mailboxes).

Thanks again,

Brendan

Hi Brendan,

Thanks for the reply here. I've gone ahead and added your organization as an affected client and attached this ticket to the dev task I mentioned for tracking purposes. Updates to the task will be provided here as they are available. I'll in turn mark this Question as Idea Logged at this time. Feel welcome to reply here with any related inquiries.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi there,

We've got a client interested in this as well!

This would really be an extremely valuable feature for our clients, particularly for upper management and executives that often don't have the time to log in and view things; to have the system ship it into your inbox is briliant. We have been using scheduled report broadcasts a lot but having that collectively view of a dashboard is so much more valuable.

Please add us as an affected client also

Hi Dean,

Sure thing, I've added you to the dev task, you can request an escalation on YFN-20477 through an account manager if needed.

Thanks,

Eric
