Ability to custom style individual column headers

Artur Banczyk shared this idea 4 years ago

Hi

As it stands you can custom style report individual column data, however.

And you can customise the header but not individual column headers.

it would be good to have the ability to custom style the headers of each individual column header, as you can with each individual column data.

Thanks.

Hey Artur,

I hope you have been well!

There are no updates just yet, however, as soon as there are, I will be sure to provide the details here :)

Since the release of version 9, the developers have been working hard to make sure everything is perfect. So because of this, the dev team are prioritising defects over enhancements.

Hey Artur,

I hope you are well!

I have yet to receive or see any updates about this enhancement - However, I can request an update from the developers, if you like?

Hi Artur,

Firstly, caveat, I don't work for Yellowfin, I work for a Yellowfin Partner that specialises in advanced customisations.

If this is something you need sooner rather than later, you can achieve the desired result via a Javascript chart (Yellowfin Wiki How To guide here).

If you need any assistance with this type of thing, feel free to reach out on lex@rhinoit.co.uk

Hi Lex! Thanks for the hint. We will look closer to this Javascript chart and come back with the feedback if it helped to solve the issue with customizing headers style or not. Regards

Hi Artur,

I hope all is well,

I just want to touch base to see how you are getting on with the possible workaround that Lex has provided. If you could let us know that would be great.

Hi Artur,

I hope all is well,

Further to my last set of comments, I just want to chase this up to see if Lex's workaround helped with this idea raised. With this we still have this logged with our development team although no updates on this as of yet.

I look forward to your reply.

Regards,

Mark

Mark,

In my opinion, this is not a completely viable workaround. With respect to the original idea, the specific column header is what needs to be customized and this makes the report more complicated than it should have to be.. along with the other restrictions to using JavaScript Charts.

Hey Zack,

I hope you are well!

Following your comment, would you like me to add your company name to the list of clients requesting this enhancement?

(The more clients that request an enhancement, the more notice it gets!) :)

I can see the company name via your profile and will add this to development task on request.

Let me know :)

Lesley

Hi Lex & Lesley! First of all thank you for a hint and sorry for sending You such delayed answer. In short we tried to achieve desired result via a Javascript chart (Yellowfin Wiki How To guide here) however without success (not everything had been working as expected after applying changes) that's why we've decided to implement workaround fully by the EC Smart client side (adjusting EC Smart TypeScript code). Our workaround is quite far from perfect but it meets the required minimum that's why it can be used by us as temporary solution till the point in time when "Ability to custom style individual column headers" is added into Yellowfin. Regards Artur

Hey Artur,

I hope you are well :)

Good news! As of version 9.7.1 the ability to style individual column headers in a report has been added

All you need to do is head over to the column formatting in a report rather than the report formatting -

& version 9.7.1 is now available if you have not yet upgraded :)

I will go ahead and mark this one as complete - if you have any further questions feel free to let me know

Best Wishes,

Lesley
