Ability to assign access rights at user level.
Team,
Couple of our customers are finding it very hard to maintain access rights at Role level, We have customer base with large number of Reporting users and they are performing various activities in yellowfin,
So customer asking for more flexibility in terms of Access rights management in reporting,
Scenario - Admin has created a Custom role 'XYZ' and assigned it to the 50 users, The role was generic but now admin wants to restrict 3 out 50 users from Broadcasting the report, now for this requiremenbt he needs to create a replica of same role and disable broadcasting access and assign it to those 3 users, So instead if we have a flexibility to modify specific users access rights in user management but base Role remains same,
It will reduce good amount of maintenance efforts for admins, This is just basic scenario our customers has lot of complex scenarios
Thanks,
Abhijeet
Hi Abhijeet,
Thanks for submitting this one. I like the premise of your idea, because in large user scenarios I can definitely see role management becoming a bit cumbersome. It would be great if the initial role could act as a 'template' of sorts and then extra rights could be afforded to users as necessary. With all that being said, I'm not too sure how feasible something like this would be (given our current architecture) or if this is something our product development team would consider as this goes away from our current approach to user permissions. I'll let our product team speak to that though!
As soon as I have some more information to pass along I will be sure to let you know.
Kind Regards,
Dustin

Hi Abhijeet,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately we do not have any plans to support this sort of user level security.
All these security functions are based on the role functions, so you will need to duplicate the role, make your changes, and then re-assign the users.
I do apologise for the extra work this has caused, and appreciate the feedback, so shoot through any other suggestions you may have!
Hope you have a good weekend.
Regards,
David
