Ability to add error bars in charts

Request for the option to add error bars to line, scatter, bar, and column charts. Ideally the + and - bar values could be set independently by specifying two different fields. When plotting a value that is the result of a statistical aggregation (e.g. mean) or a forecast based on a model with uncertainty, indicating error on the chart is essential to proper interpretation of the results.

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for your feedback.

Apologies if I'm misunderstanding this, though I think what you're after is what we call 'Confidence/Interval levels' , check out our chart functions here .

This option allows you to specify how confident you are that the value is correct, aka error bar.

E.g.

Please let me know if this is not what you're after.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

I was thinking of more traditional error bars on graphs. Examples for a bar chart (BarWithError.png) and scatter chart (ScatterWithError.png) are attached. These would be used in any kind of statistical analysis or perhaps measured values with known error.

Hi John,

Unfortunately these error/confidence levels are only available with the forecasting function, and then not available for scatter or box and whisker charts.

I've added an enhancement for the ability to manually set error bards across multiple charts, without the need to use forecasting.

The idea will need to be reviewed by the product team before I can comment further, so it could be quite a while before you hear further on this, though I can promise to update you if there is any movement either way.

Sorry for the vagueness of the answer, and please let us know if there was anything else we can help you with.

Regards,

David
