Change tables in a view whilst retaining configuration

As far as I understand, if in a view you change one table for another, then all the configurations are lost, i.e. joins, names and descriptions of the fields, calculated fields ...
Is there any possibility to do this, i.e. change one table for another in a view, not lose anything and not have to create a new view?
The fields of the two tables would be called the same.
Do you think this could be raised with the development team as a new feature of yellowfin? I think it would be great to be able to change tables in the view in a simple way
