Why can I only use custom queries for JSON reports?

I'm play around with JSON reports, but noticed I don't have an option to cache my filters. Is that expected?

Unfortunatly the JSON API does have it's limitations.
The only way you can cache a filter is directly querying a DB column using custom queries. Something that will hopefully be supported in the future.
