standardize font in reports

we recently upgraded from 7.35 to 9. Some of our reports now have strange fonts and font size and the color on the column headings is off. How can I fix this in mass?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for sending through your question!

Upgrading from Yellowfin 7.35 to version 9 is a rather big upgrade that skips over another major update (version 8), so I encourage you to have a look at some of our documentation on change management. The most important would be the version 9 change management document, which goes through some of the major cosmetic changes that you might be experiencing at the moment, but other important things to keep in mind are the change logs for both version 8 and the current version 9.

I would guess the styling changes that you are experiencing are due to changes in the default Content Settings for Reports and Dashboards, which can be adjusted by navigating to the Admin Console > Content Settings page. One thing to note here is that if you changed the styling for content on a Dashboard by Dashboard or Report by Report basis, this will have been kept during the upgrade process and overwrite the default settings, so unfortunately there would be no way to change these en masse.

Let me know if changing the default Content Settings achieves the result that you are after, and if there are any further questions that you had on the upgrade process that I can help with!

Kind regards,

Simon

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the reply.  We have hundreds of YF reports that came through the upgrade from 7.35 to 8 to 9 just fine.  They are using the default colors and fonts and look good.  However, we have found that some reports aren't using the defaults.  Is there some SQL that would remove the styling customizations?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Unfortunately, the short answer is no. Updating the Database is not a reliable way of making these changes effectively and could cause more problems. Which areas of Reports are affected, and how many reports are affected? Are you looking to change fonts and styling on Reports, Charts, Dashboards? Do you have any custom styling in the /customcss folder?

I just wanted to check in to see how you are travelling with this question? If you could let me know the answers to the question below, I may be able to provide some further guidance on aligning the styling of your environment. Otherwise, please let me know if this is no longer an issue and I will go ahead and mark this as completed.

Thanks for checking in.  I was hoping that there would be sql to remove any custom fonts/colors(all reports should be using the standard font/color).  It seems logically easy, but I guess the sql must be hard.  We will modify the reports by hand.

Hi Steve,

Not a problem. A change to the Configuration Database via a SQL query that potentially touches so many tables would be risky. As I alluded to earlier, the tradeoff might be that there is irrevocable damage done to the Database as a result, and that could be very difficult to trace.

Let me know if there are any other questions that I can help to answer, otherwise I will go ahead and mark this ticket as answered.
