Plotting data by Australia Postcode on Google maps

Hi

I have got a table which contains Australia postcode and volume of activities for each

postcode. I would like to plot the activity volume on a Google map. Is that possible?

I can also get the same information by individual address. Could I then map

it onto Google map. If not, what do I need to do?

Thanks

Hello Barry,

This is possible using our Australia Geopack, a free download from our Marketplace. Downloading this will give you a .zip file containing a .gpk file and a readme. You can import the .gpk file by going into Administration > Admin Console and opening the GeoPack Management section.

Once you've imported your GeoPack, you'll want to edit the View containing your postcodes and attache the GeoPack to the field you'd like to map.

You can find more information on GeoPacks here.

You can find detailed instructions on attaching your GeoPack to your view here.

Does this provide the information you need?

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan

Thanks for your reply.

Does the Geopack also gives you the latitude and longitude fields that we need to map it on Google map? I had a look at my existing one but cannot find any?

Hi Barry,

Once you properly associate a GeoPack with your view, you will get access to a field called Geography. This field should allow you to map your data on a GIS Google Maps chart. The GIS Google Maps chart can use any Geo point and does not require latitude and longitude.

To associate your GeoPack with your postcode data, you'll want to edit the view of the source containing the postcode data, go to the Fields step, double-click your postcode data, and change it to a Geometry field. This will open the wizard and allow you to choose your GeoPack. After it's associated to your view, you should then see something like below in your report builder:

/AcVpaN76rP4GAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC

In this case, "JURISDICTION NAME" is the name of my postcode field. The Geography field can be pulled in with postcode and then used as a Geo Field on the GIS Google Maps chart.
