Main Dashboard

Hi!

I would like to create a dashboard cointaining something like a page with links to other dashboards.

The purpouse is for the users to have a main dashboard when they logs in, with shortcuts to the most used dashboards. In this way the users wouldn't need to search for the dashboards and add them.

How could I do that?

Hi Gabriel,

Thanks for reaching out. I wasn't sure if this was possible, but turns out after testing, it is!

Here's what you'll need to do:

  1. Head to the YF marketplace and download our Audit Content, if you haven't already.
  2. Set up your Config DB as a Data Source so it can be reported off of, if you haven't already.
  3. Import the Audit Content yfx, using Custom import, choosing the Config DB's data source as the data source for your Views.
  4. You'll now have a Report called "Top N Dashboards":259d0cee500062b3194fb346a110b43e
  5. So you can now see your top dashboards. At this point, these dashboards have tooltip displays but you can't actually click into the dashboards, but if you head into the Related Content section of this report, you can add the corresponding dashboards to the Drill Through section and set the Joins Master Field to Name, and Hyperlink to Name, like so: 01a841f76dcf5371ab855e11346f1189
  6. Now when you click on, in my example, the first dashboard listed in my report, I can click into that dashboard:d87db3c8a6da36a759619a9c743bdf4a
  7. I could also click the 7318_Test hyperlink in the report itself found under the chart.
  8. You can then take this report after setting up all your Drill Through's and placing it on its own dashboard. So you'd then have this one "Main Dashboard":0c5f3e244e1be80208fb8b641e9f3187

Of course, you can then style this how you wish, change filtering, set it to permanently display 5 of the dashboards by default for example, or things like that. Alternately, you can just take the data from the "Top N Dashboards" Audit Content data, and just build a report from scratch and using the aforementioned Drill Through method and design it however you wish.

Hopefully this helps!

Mike

Thanks Mike!

That is surely helpful, but in my situation I would like to choose which dashboards would be listed and also to add a brief description for each one.

Is it possible?

Hi Gabriel,

Yes. As mentioned above you can build a report from scratch and, using Drill Through functionality, link the hyperlink Joins to other Dashboards. The actual set-up of this is beyond the scope of standard support and falls more in the realm of consulting services. I can give you pointers of where to get started, as I've done here, and if you have some other quick questions while setting this up I can help you out as well. Hopefully this helps.
