Grouped filter based on same values returned in a column

Hi, this is probably super straight forward but I can't seem to figure it out. I have a column of data that has multiple values, but a lot of the values are the same.
I want to have an optional filter to only show information that has that same value or everything else. I don't want the filter to show all the other different values (because the list will end up being endless and confuse users).
Basically i want the filter to say "value or all" and the user selects.
I can do an advanced filter, but this doesn't allow the user to choose when it's applied.
does this make any sense?

Okay, so I figured this out after playing around a bit more.
Created a calculated field and used it as a filter. Always comes to you after a break!
