duplicate folder creation using export.
Answered
Hi,
I have a dashboard with 5 reports developed using 2 views. When export and import in my system (or others system), i see the folder structure would be creating automatically, if that folder is already exist also the imported folder structure is creating without any duplicate issue. Is there any way that we can put the imported stuff into developer preferred folder.
With the above scenario, i see the duplicate folders, data sources and views are getting created. At the end i am not sure which report is belong to which data source and view?
Is there any way to control the folder structure during the import?
Thanks,
Venu
Hi Venu,
Thanks for your email.
While importing the Dashboard, you don't have to import the folders. You can just drag the dashboard and reports. By clicking on the Gear Icon you can choose the required folder. When you import the reports will be placed in your choosen folder.
If you have any questions please let me know.

Mahesh

Thanks for the Response Mahesh.
So, i need to choose custom(as per the attachment Import.JPG) and then choose Data Source, folder and sub-folders (as per the attachment Import1.JPG), is that what you are conveying above?
Thanks,
Venu

Hi Venu,
Yes, that is correct.
When you choose custom there is more flexibility of what you want to import into which folder.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Mahesh,
I have created a Folder (Test ) and Sub-Folder (Test 1 ) in my Production machine. As we cannot save any reports in the main folder we need to create a sub-folder.
>> I have created 2 reports in my testing machine and saved those in Incident Management folder.
>> I have exported those reports and imported in the Prod machine under (Test 1) sub-folder.
>> I was able to see the reports. There is no duplicate content folder got created for me.
However, customer followed the same steps; duplication occured.
Please find the attacehd document.

Hi Aruna,
Thanks for replying on this ticket.
I would perhaps create a new ticket in your case and respond on it.
To raise a defect we need to be able to replicate the issue.
