Cohort analysis with heat grid
Answered
Hi,
I want to create a cohort analysis using heat grid chart.
The challenge that i'm facing is to add the cohort size which is a metric, below (as seen in the picture below) or next to the date/time frame dimension.
Is that possible with the existing available charts in YF or should i use JS charts.
If the only option is to use JS, could you recommend an existing JS library that has something similar to what i need?
Thank you!
Best regards,
Sharon.
Hi Sharon,
Thank you for reaching out. There are ways to accomplish pieces of this, but to get it all on one chart I don't believe to be currently possible.
One potential option is that you could make this into two separate reports (one for Tablet and Desktop Traffic and one for Mobile Traffic) and, from the Report Builder, create a Cross-Tab report using Conditional Formatting. You can create something that pretty closely approximates this:
It seems that to be able to accomplish this all together, however, you'd need to have the data in a Cross-Tab Report format and have Heat Grid charts support that type of report, though it's still kind of hard to say whether that would work as there's currently no way to test this. Even in that case you'd probably have to make it a multi-chart and drag the pieces together in the canvas on the Design step, but I do believe it could be possibility. What I could do if you'd like, is create an enhancement request for Heat Grid Charts to support Cross-Tab Report Formats. Would you like me to go ahead and put forth an enhancement request for this?
On the JS Charts point, which is likely your best bet for this particular type of customization at this time, DataTables is a great JS library that should be able to accomplish this.

Mike
