Chart Auto-refresh does not persist

The Chart Auto-refresh is set to "ON" by default. When turned "OFF", the "OFF" status does not persist once the chart tab no longer has focus.

With a chart built on a view that runs a long time, such that it times out, there is no way to "get back" to the chart view since it times out and auto-refresh being off doesn't persist, it runs the chart

Hi Laura,

Thanks for reaching out. If you could upload a screen recording of the behavior to tour ftp https://ftp.yellowfin.bi I can try to get this replicated. Just reply here with a filename if you could please. This sounds more like a time out issue at the root however; I would adjust the timeout period or optimize the view / chart as a fix here.

Thanks,

Eric

Hi Eric,

The issue is that the auto-refresh button on CHART does not stay "OFF". If you set it to OFF and then navigate back to DATA and then go back to CHART, auto-refresh in CHART is "ON" again. It doesn't persist the "OFF" state.

Hi Laura,

Thanks for the additional info. It sounds like the solution here would be to have an option in Yellowfin to change the default auto-refresh behavior for the chart builder, Does that sound accurate? If so I can create a request for developers to look into this potential functionality.

In the meantime I'd recommend working around the timeout issue by making the auto-refresh change in chart builder before the report is complex enough to time-out at that stage.

Thanks,

Eric

No, that wont work ecause the minute you navigate away from the chart, the auto refresh turns back on again, which is the problem.

Once you have set auti-refresh on the chart to OFF it is only OFF for the immediate screen. If you turn it off, then go to Design or data and then go back to chart Auto Refresh on the chart is ON (again). The OFF state does not persist

Hi Laura,

Thanks for the details. Not able to replicate at this time, Here is my testing process in 9.7.1.

1. Create report (auto-refresh is on in data), added column to report

2. Went to chart page, auto refresh is on by default -

3. turned off auto refresh on chart page.

4. went to design page

5. went back to chart page - auto refresh remained off

Let me know if I'm missing anything here.

Which version of Yellowfin are you running? An upgrade may resolve this.

Thanks,

Eric

Thank you for this. I was told by our “Partner” that the problem I was having was expected functionality.  You have given me what I need to prove to them it is not expected.

Hi Laura,

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully the partner will be able to help sort things out; they are welcome to submit a ticket here with us if they are able to provide replication.

Thanks,

Eric
