Hi, can someone please explain how this setting works?

What constitutes "on demand", and and how is it different to "manual" cache refresh?

Thanks

Hi Bogdan,

Thanks for your query on the post:

In the Filter settings when you choose

Cached Values On Demand - Yellowfin will create a list of values by loading the contents of the field each time the report is loaded.

Cached Values - Yellowfin will create a list of values by caching the current contents of the field in the database.

Let me know if you have any questions or if this is not clear.

Hi,

Thanks for the clarification.

How does this work with relation to dependent filters?

i.e. If filter B has parent filter A, then are the values of B refreshed every time the selection of A changes? Or does this happen just once once per report load?

Cheers,

Bogdan.

Hi Bogdan,

All possible value combinations are loaded when the report is opened.

So when changing values, it won't need to refresh the list.

Please let us know you have further questions on this.

I have filter values that might change 4-5 times per year. I don't want to take the performance hit of reloading the filter values every time the report loads, so I want to use cached, not cached on demand?

But what happens when my filter values do change? Do I need to manually edit dozens of reports and recache them all manually? Is Yellowfin smart enough to use a shared cache across all of the reports so I only have to manually update one?

Hi Stephen Johnson,

Thanks for reaching us.

You can schedule the caching of the values and doesn't have to edit the report all the time.

Please click here for more information on Filter Refresh types

Hope this helps.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
