Hi everyone,

I hope all you guys are fine!

I've been asked if it is possible to disable the screenshot icon that appears once the mouse is over a graphic report.

Is there a way to achieve this individualy in a dashboard or for the entire system?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Renato,

I appreciate your quick reply.

You can disable the screenshot icon by going to Administration -> Admin Console -> Roles -> Select Roles (Ex. System Administrator) -> General and turn off the bookmarks and snapshots option. To view the changes, log out and then back in. For your reference, kindly review the screenshot below.

Thanks a lot Sharwari,

I didn't realize there was this kind of access. I was hoping to see if there was some kind of dashboard parameter, but this seems to fit well in my case.

Thank you for highlighting this in the Yellowfin BI community thread. It’s true that disabling the screenshot icon may require custom CSS or scripting since it’s not always available in the standard settings. At Luxury Used Cars Dubai we’ve had to apply similar tweaks to maintain confidentiality when presenting dashboards. If you’ve got any plugin or interactive workaround that works seamlessly, please share—others and I would appreciate it. Also, feel free to check out examples or reference our setup at https://exoticcars.ae/ for inspiration.

Managing those UI elements usually requires toggling the "header icons" or hover settings in your dashboard configuration to keep the user experience in perfect sync. This focus on timing and flow is reminiscent of the FNF rhythm game, where the Boyfriend must outplay every opponent to win the Girlfriend’s love.

Yeah, I ran into this exact same annoying issue last week with my soundboard setup.I

f you are using a web-based soundboard dashboard (like Voicemod, Soundpad web control, or a custom Stream Deck layout), that screenshot icon is usually triggered by a browser extension like Lightshot, Awesome Screenshot, or even Opera's built-in snapshot tool detecting a canvas/graphic element. Here is how you fix it:

  1. For the entire system (Easiest): Go into your specific browser extension settings and add your soundboard URL/localhost IP to the "Exclusion List" or blacklist. This kills the hover icon globally across the app.
  2. For individual dashboards: If you built the dashboard yourself, add pointer-events: none; to the CSS of that specific graphic report container. It stops the mouse from triggering the screenshot tool overlay entirely.
Let me know which soundboard software or browser you are using! I can give you the exact toggle location if you get stuck.

I think disabling or hiding the screenshot icon makes sense in cases where the dashboard contains sensitive internal data, client reporting, or restricted business information. Even if users still have other ways to capture the screen, removing the built-in screenshot option can reduce accidental sharing and make the interface feel more controlled.

A proper solution would depend on whether Yellowfin allows this through role permissions, custom CSS, or admin configuration. If it is only a UI-level change, I would still combine it with user access controls, folder/report permissions, and clear data handling policies. For teams that deal with important files or reporting data, I have also found it useful to think about backup and recovery planning as part of the same data protection process: https://eezit.ca/services/calgary-data-recovery/

In my opinion, the best approach would be:

  1. Check if the screenshot/export option can be controlled by role permissions.
  2. If not, ask Yellowfin support whether custom CSS or configuration can safely hide it.
  3. Avoid only relying on hiding the icon, because users may still use browser or OS screenshot tools.
  4. Review who has access to sensitive dashboards in the first place.

So yes, hiding the icon may help, but it should be treated as one layer of control rather than the full security solution.

An excellent system query! To create a relaxed, productive mood right from your browser while looking up dashboard platform workarounds, a great tool to use is my soundboard.
