Hi Steven,

You will find this setting in the 'Column Formatting' page, underneath the display name. This will show you the name the field was allocated during the View set up.

You will find more information on column formatting here.

Hi Simon,

Thank you for kind help.

My question still open, the displayed name has already been changed, and I need to know what the original name is? namely, which column it's used in the report?

Hi Steven,

In the above example the display name of the column is Athlete Country, which is also the name of the View Field. If you were to change the Display name, the View Field would remain with the original name. Please be aware that the original name from the data source may have been altered with the View. Hi Simon,

I know why I'm confused by this now, here the Report Fields column name changed with the displayed name at my side. Please refer to my screendown, when I change the displayed name to '-', column changed accordingly.

Hi Steven,

What you have explained is normal behaviour, the 'Display Name' and the 'Column Name' should be the same, with the 'View Field' showing the original field name. I can't seem to see the View Field from the screenshot - would you mind letting me know which version and build of Yellowfin you are using? It might be that the version you are currently using doesn't have this particular feature. You can find your version and build number by opening /info.jsp.

Thanks,

Hi Simon,

yes, I cannot see the view field indication. But I don't know how to check my Yfin version, recalled someone told me it's V7.3.

Hi Steven,

Please go to the /info.jsp page to find your version and build number. E.g. My Yellowfin instance is at localhost:8080, therefore I go to localhost:8080/info.jsp. I'm not sure that your Yellowfin version is up to date, your issue looks like it can be resolved by upgrading to a later release.

Hi Simon,

I think I'm authorized to upgrade my system, and is this the only way to get the original name of the column? thanks.

Hi Steven,

Depending on which version of Yellowfin you are using, if you remove the contents of the 'Display Name' it should revert back to the original column name when you exit the column formatting window while editing the report. Otherwise, you might be able to deduce the column name from the Report SQL query, by clicking the 'Information' button on the published report.

Let me know if either of these methods work.
