conditional format

Creating the chart I've used Reference Code option for Color and the legend has turned into rules (having the options like Contains .... or Equal to... ). Is there a way to overwrite the legend?

Hi Alexandra,

I suspect that you might have 'Conditional Format' switched on at the Charting Stage instead of 'Reference Code'. I've sent a screenshot of the where you might find this information on the Chart you are building.

Let me know if this resolves your issue, or if you require further assistance.

Hi Simon,

Thank you for the answer but the issue is a little bit more complicated. If I choose "Conditional Format" at the Charting stage I get the color coding I need (it matches the data table) but missing the "correct" naming in the Legend. If I choose nothing or "Reference Code", "correct" naming in the Legend is back but color coding is not what I need. Please, advise what to do to get both correct Legend name and Color for the bars.

Best regards,

Alexandra

Hi Alexandra,

Thanks for clarifying that for me. One thing I would suggest straight off the bat is not to use 'Auto Chart', Auto Charts are a great way to explore your data and understand different ways you might be able to present your data, however, it doesn't contain all the options yo get, when you select a specific type of chart i.e. Column Chart, Area Chart.

From what you've explained, the way that you've applied conditional formatting is normal and as expected.

I would consider other ways that you might be able to present your data. It looks like a Stacked Column Chart might be more suitable, or a Combination Chart. Alternatively, you can also define the colour of your Reference Code by editing the Reference Code and allowing 'Custom Colours'.

I've attached sample screenshots for your reference, let me know how you go!

Hello Simon,

Thank you for the response. I'm gonna try stacked bar chart.

Where do I find Reference Code details?

Hi Alexandra,

You can find Reference Codes in a couple of places. Firstly, you can edit them as you go when creating a Report, when you are formatting a Field, by selecting 'Reference Code' in the drop down menu and then 'Editing' the Reference Code. This brings up the menu from the previous message.

The other way to edit Reference Codes is through the Admin Console, where you are able to edit and create Reference Codes to be used later. See screenshots attached, and please find more information here.
