Where do I clean up signals. After having run a few I have MANY signals and need to delete non-relevant, older signals from the signals page.

Hi Gustav,

Thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately at this stage, there is no option to delete these signals. The only thing I can do from here is to raise this as an IDEA to the DEV team as this has been raised previously as a possible defect, but was marked as a non defect item. Would you like me to raise this for you?

Paul

Hi Paul

Thanks for the feedback. I understand that this is not a defect but it does affect usability making it rather a shortcomming, but an important one at that. I am not sure what clean-up Yellowfin will do in the background, if any, on this huge amount of signals but It will need to be managed as in my Instance it is already slowing down functionallity, just by testing. Please go ahead and log this as an Idea and we will vote on it !

Gustav

Hi Gustav,

I have spoken to our Dev team on this and there will be a few enhancements going forward.

There will be some further enhancements to the User Interface coming up for 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 releases and I believe this feature will be added to 8.0.2, which will be around January. I might also be able to get an interim sql query to delete these. Would this be something you would like?

Quick question on Signals. Are you currently evaluating V8 signals at the moment?

Paul

Hi Paul. We are the Yellowfin Distributor in Africa and our team is working/playing with Signals to make sure we fully understand to be able to support the local community ! We have a few Analytics partners that is looking at SIGNALS as we speak. Having access to a SQL script wold be a great start.

Thanks

Hi Gustav,

Please find an attached temporary script for this. I have not tested this myself, so can you please make sure you have the necessary backups in place. The SQL is all truncation commands so please bear this in mind as it does not appear to be selective as previously mentioned / requested.

Note it only takes out the signals but it doesn’t delete the actual job data. I am not sure if this is exactly what you are after, so please take a look at the SQL.

As mentioned though, that in up and coming releases this will be able to be done via the UI and should be a little more specific in deletions.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

Paul

Hi Paul

I have not used this script as I just did a re-install of my environment. I have however passed this on to Gawie/Stephen/Lebo to test and use as and when needed. For now this call can be closed. Tx Gustav
