Date "Between" Filter Breadcrumb Not Working

I cannot successfully change the dates in a date "between" filter breadcrumb. Values disappear and even change after entry. Clicking the calendar to populate the dates fails, so does manual date entry. The code on the main filter menu is fine. Our date format is dd/mm/yyyy. (v7.4.6)

Hi Jason,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm unable to replicate this in 7.4.6 (or later).

Start:

/I7QQAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==

Chosen filter values:

/yxUAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC

Changing date from Breadcrumb:

/wF0lRPBvkJOHwAAAABJRU5ErkJggg==

Filters applied:

/hzXtgg8tRB4AAAAASUVORK5CYII=

Does this work if you build a small simple report such as this one, or is not working at all? If this isn't working in a specific report, perhaps there's something else within the report that's breaking this functionality.

What actually happens when you click on the breadcrumb and choose new dates? Does it just not let you click?

Unfortunately, this won't show up in our logs because this is JavaScript. Does your browser dev console show any JavaScript errors when you attempt to change the dates from the breadcrumb?

Regards,

Mike

Mike,

Here is the java error I get. I'm on Java 8 build 191.

47ccfb67fe70f3bb54ea7692ac52cde7

What I'm seeing:

  1. Click on a date > both date fields get filled-in
  2. Click Apply > one of the dates disappears (it varies on which of the two will disappear)
  3. Click Apply > the second date disappears
  4. Click Apply > error message since nothing is filled in

Hi Jason,

This is still working for me in Internet Explorer. A few things I'm curious of:

-Are you using the latest version of Internet Explorer?

-Does this work in other browser's?

Failing the above two queries prove unfruitful:

-Do you have some kind of custom integration in your YF instance?

Mike

Mike,

  • I'm using IE 11.0.9600.19180
  • Same issue in Firefox
  • Same issue in Chrome
  • Same issue using another view

I have one custom (Browse Page formatting) version of Yellowfin and one standard. Both have the same issue.

Below is what Chrome shows. I'm selecting November dates.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately since I can't seem to find any logged instances of this so far, nor have I been able to replicate, I'm going to require as much information as possible to try and do so.

There are a few more possibilities I can think of here. Perhaps in this case the logs may prove useful after all. Can you provide a compressed copy of your entire logs folder located at <YellowfinInstall>/appserver/logs?

I'm also wondering if this may be RDMBS related - what RDBMS are you using?

Also, what data type is your date data at the db level? I know you mentioned it's formatted as 'dd/mm/yyyy' within YF, is it stored in the same format in the View and/or at the db level?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

How do you want me to upload the logs? I found an old FTP link, but that appears to be expired now. Can you send a new one?

As far as database, we're using SQL Server 2008, 2012, and 2017. All three have the same result. I'm using Microsoft's JDBC Driver 7.0 (JRE8) to connect to these databases.

Most of the reports I've tested so far have connected to SQL views with a "Date" field type. The Yellowfin view successfully recognizes this as a "Date" type as well. I also tried connecting directly to a SQL table with a DateTime field. I tried once having Yellowfin treat it as a Date and once as a Timestamp. Both still had errors; although, slightly different as a Timestamp type.

I also wanted to mention again that the date picker on the Filter Menu works just fine.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for confirming the requested info. I've indeed taken note of the fact that the date picker in the filter menu itself is working.

We changed our FTP link a few months back. Please upload here: https://ftp.yellowfin.bi/

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Jason,

Did you get a chance to upload these files? I realized I didn't inform you to inform me once you've done so.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Jason,

I responded with the new FTP site in my previous response. This is the new FTP upload site: https://ftp.yellowfin.bi/

Hi Jason,

Thanks for supplying these. I'm so far unable to replicate this behavior and previous cases that are seemingly at least partially related that I've found are marked as fixed and you're on the latest build. As such, I'm going to reach out to my colleagues to see if they have some suggestions here. I hope to have something for you soon.

Hi Jason,

Here's an idea: can you turn off View Caching and re-attempt this? Please let me know results of same.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

Is this the option you are talking about? It was already set to zero.

Hi Jason,

Nope. Please follow the steps found in our Wiki entry on View Caching to find this setting: View Caching.

Basically just un-select your Data Store and set to Manual instead of Scheduled, if not already set to that.

Let me know how this goes.

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

My connection is read-only, so the cache tab is not available.

Hi Jason,

Strange, the stack trace seems to indicate that you are using View Caching.

Would it be possible to attempt this in the latest build of 7.4? You can download the latest build here.

If it still does not work after upgrading I'm afraid the only other option will be to replicate your environment locally to see if I can replicate this behavior by obtaining a backup of your config db, but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it.

Mike,

Section totals are broke in the latest build, so I can't install. Once 7.4.8 is released, I'll download and check back in.

Hi Jason,

That's right. Sounds good. I'll reach back out to you once that build is released to see if the issue persists. Thanks!
