Hello Ronnie Abrahiem,

My name is Siddartha Pathi from the Yellowfin Technical Support Team. We have received your support request, and I will be your primary contact on the following ticket:

Ticket Number: #{34267}
Case Title: {This Page isn't working right now}

The ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE error from nayfbi.nadenso.net means that the server did not send any response back to the browser. This can happen if the server is busy, has timed out, or has crashed while processing the request. It may also occur if the server has run out of available database connections or if there is a network, firewall, or proxy issue that interrupts the connection before a response is returned.

Please clear your browser cache and cookies and try again, or use a different browser to rule out any browser-related issue. Also, check whether Yellowfin is working normally by logging in and opening other reports. If other pages are slow or timing out, the server may be under heavy load or experiencing issues.

Please also verify database connection pool usage, and restart the Yellowfin service if any connections are stuck.

If the issue still persist please provide the logfiles while reproducing the issue, which are situated in the "Yellowfin 9.11\appserver\logs" directory. Zip the log folder and send it to us. If the logs are too big to be attached please upload them to the following FTP server and let us know the name of the file you uploaded:

https://ftp.yellowfin.bi/files/

A Timestamp of when this issue started happening. This will assist us in finding the correct input in the log files.

Sincerely,

Siddartha Pathi

Hi Siddhartha,

Thank you for your support.

We have a quick question; does Yellowfin application version 9.8 support Oracle Linux 9 (OL9) Autonomous?

Thanks

Hello Ronnie Abrahiem,

I hope you are doing well

Yellowfin's server requirements depend on factors such as the number of users, the types of reports being run, and the number of scheduled background jobs. Therefore, the server should be sized according to your organization's usage to ensure good performance and a smooth user experience.

Regarding Linux compatibility, Yellowfin is not tested against specific Linux versions. In general, if the operating system can run a full Java Virtual Machine (JVM), Yellowfin should run without any issues. We are not aware of any Linux versions that are incompatible with Yellowfin.

For more information, including the Minimum Functional Specification, please refer to the following article:

Please let us know if you experience any issues or have any further questions. We will be happy to assist you.

Hi Siddhartha,

We are upgrading the Yellowfin application [9.16.1.1] and database services. Currently, we have two Yellowfin licenses for the non-production environment (50 users total) and an unlimited-user license for the production environment.

Do we need new license files for this upgrade?

Thanks

Hello Ronnie Abrahiem,

If you are upgrading within the same major version of Yellowfin (9.x), you do not need a new license file. The license information is stored in the Yellowfin configuration database, so it is automatically retained during patch or build upgrades. Your existing license will continue to work after the upgrade.

Before starting the upgrade, please check your current license status in Administration > License Management and verify the license expiry date and entitlements. It is also recommended to take a full backup of the Yellowfin configuration database before applying the upgrade. Additionally, back up any custom files and directories, such as custom CSS, images, or other modified files, to ensure they can be restored if needed after the upgrade.

Please let us know if you need additional support on this issue.

Hi Siddartha,

Please see the message below. Please if you can support on this

Hello Eduard

We are having some performance issues with YellowFin that runs in a cloud platform. We tried to upscale the server and add 2 more CPUs, and after that, we are getting the error message below, but our license has not expired as it shows in the 2nd screenshot.

Can you please help with that? Do we need a new license or should we downscale the server? I appreciate if you can prioritize this, as it’s month end and application is completely unavailable.

Hi Siddartha,

Can we schedule a call to discuss the issue we are experiencing with the Yellowfin server's CPU?

Hi Siddartha,

What is everyone doing? Still, the Java application is using a lot of CPU.

Hello Ronnie Abrahiem,

I hope you are doing well

Thank you for the response. The issue is not related to the license expiry date. It is occurring because the server is currently exceeding the CPU core limit allowed by your Yellowfin license. Your license is valid for 2 CPU cores, but Yellowfin has detected 4 CPU cores after the server was upscaled. As a result, Yellowfin has triggered a license breach and blocked access with the message, "The software license has been breached."

To restore service immediately, please reduce the server allocation back to 2 CPU cores and restart the Yellowfin service. Once the detected core count matches the licensed limit, the breach condition should clear automatically and users will be able to log in again.

If the additional processing power is required on a permanent basis, you will need to obtain an updated Yellowfin license that supports 4 or more CPU cores. Please check with your CSM.

I just wanted to let you know that if you experience any issues that require immediate attention, please raise a new support ticket, and a member of our support team will assist you accordingly. As our teams operate across different time zones. We appreciate your understanding and patience.
