Bar chart month under each column

Hello YF

Is it possible to have a stacked bar chart with months (in this case its a 15-month time period) with the month names directly under the columns?

If I make the time data continuous I get the below, which has the month names but not under the correct column (it puts it in-between the two columns, aka February sits in-between the January and February columns - rather than directly under the February one, see attached picture).

However, if I make the time data discrete, because I am using a custom 15-month time period it counts the overlapping months as the same - so January 2025 and January 2026 are combined into one column, meaning the graph has 12 columns combining any overlapping months.

Is there a way to get the month to sit directly under the bar/column on the graph?

Hi Livia,

I hope you're doing well and thanks for contacting Yellowfin Support with your question.

Let me fire up a report and double check whether this is possible - if not, we can always raise it as an enhancement request.

I'll get back to you with some feedback shortly.

Kind regards,

Chris

Hi Livia,

It does seem to be an issue with the vertical stacked column bar charts and the x-axis labels.

We do already have an open enhancement request to add this in and have them display properly; I'll add your request to that and raise some awareness for the developers.

I have noticed that the 3D stacked column will display them correctly. So long as your data is arranged in the correct order, use the Data Order sorting method when setting up the chart.

I hope that helps.

Thank you for getting back to me Chris,

Yes this is helpful.

Please put my name to the request, as its possibly a mistake on the developers side as it is quite a rudimentary function and would help us with several figures, as most are time stamped by month.

I can get it to work for some of my figures, using data order, but I can't for the 15-month figures as when I change it to month > discrete time series; Yellowfin combines the 2025 and 2026 months together (Jan 2025 and Jan 2026 merge into one bar). It doesn't combine the months when its continuous time series, but then it does the above month not under the correct bar issue.

Thank you,

Livia

Hi Livia,

Thanks for letting me know that your data displays properly with the continuous time series option. I was wondering if the 15 month period you are using would cause an issue.

We'll look into getting those x-axis labels centred.

Kind regards,

Chris

Hi Livia,

I've changed this Question to an Idea - the developers have put it on the list of features to be added to Yellowfin.

Let me know if you have any other questions on this topic.

Kind regards,

Chris
