Is there a way to sort a report by a subtotal value?
On Hold
Hello!
I am trying to sort a report in a specific way and can't get it to work exactly how I am envisioning. I will attach a screenshot showing my issue.
Referencing the screenshot, I am trying to get all of the values for each description together, then sort all of that by the subtotal of COGS12. You will see that the description ALTA GLOSS has been split up when just sorting by COGS12. I don't see a way to sort by the highest subtotal value instead of each record's value.
I know there is the sections feature which does break the report up correctly, but I don't see a way to order the sections by a subtotal either.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hello Justin,
My name is Diego Gabanzo from the Yellowfin Technical Support Team. We have received your support request, and I will be your primary contact on the following ticket:
Ticket Number: #33494
Case Title: Is there a way to sort a report by a subtotal value?
Issue Overview:
Thank you for your request. Based on the case description, you would like to get all the values for each 'Description' value together and then be able to sort by subtotal COGS12.
After performing some tests, one way I could find to group and then be able to sort by another column was using Section Formatting.
In order to use this feature,
1. Please Edit the Report.
2. Once on Edit screen please add the Description dimension into the report 'Sections' box.
You may find more information about Section Formatting in the link below:

Hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any questions related.
Sincerely,

That does the job of separating each Description, but I don't see a way to sort the order of the sections by the total of COGS12 (or any other field).
Is that possible?

Hi Justin,
Thank you for your patience.
I have attempted to perform this with a couple reports but unfortunately I am encountering the same behavior as you reported, I am unable to sort the order of the sections by the total of COGS12.
Also, I have discussed with my team and it seems that currently there is no way to achieve this through Yellowfin UI. Would you like me to submit a request with our Product team as an enhancement for this?
Sincerely,
Diego
