Hi,

We're interested in using the new feature in 9.16 that allows tomcat upgrades concurrently

Just wondering if you have a guide for doing this on a headless linux server?

Thanks

Dean

Hi Dean,

Thank you for your patience with this. I has since investigated this further of which I am at the assumption you are using the silent installer to install and upgrade Yellowfin? If so, there are new patch installer properties that control this - they are documented on this page;

https://wiki.yellowfinbi.com/display/yfcurrent/Patch+Installer#PatchInstaller-SilentInstallerOptions

In particular the last two lines in the table;

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks Mark!

I think that is what we're looking for. I don't actually do the updates myself so just waiting on my colleague to confirm

Thanks

Hi Mark,

So we don't normally use the silent installer or even the patch installer I don't think. My colleague would just use something like this:

sudo java -jar yellowfin-9.14.0.1-20250114-update.jar

With the jar file here being the "cross-platform updater" jar from the releases page

Do you think something like this would work then?

sudo java -jar yellowfin-9.14.0.1-20250114-update.jar -option.updateTomcat=true

Thanks

Hi Dean,

I hope all is well and thank you for your patience. That looks about right, although I have not tried this myself. Can I ask if this has been attempted at your side?

Been waiting on my colleague to try it on our dev environment but he just hasn't had the time yet

Hi Mark,

I'm just back from lunch and my colleague has reported that he was given the option when he ran the jar as normal

We originally got a "No matching configuration found in any version" error but we tried a force update and it looks like it went ok

Before we close this can I just ask what exactly that error is looking for? We haven't done much with our tomcat so not 100% sure what it is not finding

Thanks

Hi Dean,

Thank you for your patience with this. I have not seen this error before, nor can I think what it relate to other than some form of corruption. If you can provide any form of logs (tomcat etc.) for this with the error that could be a good start for us to further investigate.

Let me know.

Mark

Hi Mark,

Apologies, I was on annual leave last week

In my absence my colleague did the update on production and all seems well

I'll ask him for our dev logs to see if there is anything there but at the same time I'm happy to close this too

Thanks
