InLine SQL Query

Hi!

Can you explain more about the InLine SQL Query? I don't understand what the query should be and how to connect it to users. I've looked at the Wiki page, but it doesn't explain the query. I've tried, and I can generate a query with a table from my database, but those tables don't have YF user information.

Best wishes,

Jürgen

Hello Ilmar-Jürgen Rammi,

To connect an InLine SQL Query to Yellowfin users, you need to ensure that your database contains a table or view that includes user information that can be linked to Yellowfin users. This typically involves having a table with user identifiers that match those used in Yellowfin, such as user IDs or email addresses.

Here's a general approach to creating an InLine SQL Query that connects to Yellowfin users:

  1. Identify the User Information: Determine which table in your database contains the user information you need. This table should have a column that can be linked to Yellowfin's user identifiers.
  2. Write the SQL Query: Write a SQL query that retrieves the necessary user information. Ensure that the query includes a join or filter that connects the data to Yellowfin's user identifiers.
  3. Create the InLine SQL Query in Yellowfin:Go to the Yellowfin interface and navigate to the section where you can create InLine SQL Queries.Enter your SQL query into the query editor.Test the query to ensure it returns the expected results.
  4. Use the Query in Reports or Dashboards: Once your InLine SQL Query is set up, you can use it as a data source for reports or dashboards in Yellowfin. This allows you to display user-related data alongside other business metrics.

If your database does not have a direct link to Yellowfin user information, you may need to create a view or a temporary table that includes this information. This could involve joining your existing tables with a user table that contains the necessary identifiers.

Remember, the key to successfully using InLine SQL Queries with Yellowfin users is ensuring that your database schema includes a way to link your data to Yellowfin's user identifiers.

Let me know if it helps or have any additional questions.

Hi!

Thank you for your answer. It did clarify how InLine works.

Can you tell me if there's a way to enable the access filters for all users by default? I mean that once I enable the access filters on a report level, the new users will see the report's data until it is decided to limit access.

Best wishes,

Jürgen
