How to change data label with conditionally formatted chart

Hello!
I am working on some charting with distinct data sources (Current, Prior, Forecast) that should always be the same color (Blue, Grey, Green respectively)
I got this working using conditional formatting in the report to color a cell based the field value, which I also applied to the chart. Rules attached with conditions screenshot.
Unfortunately, the labels for the chart describe the rule logic, not what the rule represents. Attached as label.
Is there a way to rename these to just be 'Current', 'Prior', 'Forecast'?
I've tried a few things like using advanced conditions but you can't apply those to a chart
I'm using version 9.9
