How to get related content for a month on a line graph

I would like to be able to click on part of a line graph for a month/year or a quarter and for it to show the data behind that time. I have added related content behind the line graph but it doesn't seem to be working.

Hi Mark,

I hope you're doing well.

Thanks for submitting your question to the Yellowfin Community.

Could you please send over a quick screenshot of your chart, so I can see the problem?

If there's sensitive data in the chart, you can either redact it out or I can convert this to a private ticket.

Kind regards,

Chris

Please find attached. I would love it if we could click on the point of the graph and it to show the related content behind that month.

Hi Mark,

This is possible in certain types of Line chart.

If you have a time series for your x axis, which this appears to be, that is not currently supported. Please see our table of drill support for charts on this page here:

https://wiki.yellowfinbi.com/display/yfcurrent/Drill+Capability+on+Charts

We do have an open enhancement request for this feature. I could add your support to it if you like. Let me know.

Kind regards,

Chris

Hi Mark,

I hope you had a good weekend.

No worries. I'll do that and see if I can get an update from the developers for you on its status.

Kind regards,

Chris

Thanks! I came up with a work around. Used a virtual table to convert the date field in question to return the month and year and the date in a text format. This seems to work fine.

SELECT recordid, DATE_FORMAT(inc_dincident, '%Y-%m') AS Incident_Month_Year
FROM incidents_main

Hi Mark,

That's great to hear. I've brought this up to the developers who will have a look. We just recently rehired the original chart developer so will hopefully have a pair of expert eyes on the problem.

I'll move this over the Idea Logged unless you have any other questions on the topic?

Kind regards,

Chris
