Add ability to use Chart Functions in the Tool Tip section

I have a line chart showing absolute values of money spent against budget. I want to add another field, budget spent as % of budget, as a tooltip. Before I try, there's the appearance that this chart accepts a tooltip:

/d699ad7a06bc9a0cc14b959377cd6240

But then when I drag in the tooltip field, it becomes greyed out and says on mouseover, "Tooltip fields are currently unsupported for this chart type."

Is there a way I can get the % variable to display as a tooltip?

Hi Sam,

Thanks for reaching out. I believe you're in 9.3.1, but in 9.5.1, there's actually a different message here that shows what's going on here:

/7c34f3e75b490037a02ad5bd9dd8a4d0

This message of course makes more sense since Tool Tip's are allowed in this chart type:

/2a890021bfadad34dc08518e57dbb6f3

It just can't be a chart function.

If you're looking to use Chart Functions in the Tool Tip section, what I could do is convert this to an Idea item and submit an internal enhancement request to see what the Product Team thinks, so please let me know if you'd like me to go ahead and do that.

Regards,

Mike

Thanks Mike for the explanation. Correct, I'm on 9.3.1 currently. It would be great if function-created variables could be used for tool tips - please do convert this post to a request for a new feature. Thanks!

Hi Sam,

Sounds good! I've gone ahead and and converted this to an Idea item and submitted an enhancement request.

Any potential updates regarding this will be posted here.
