Hi,

It seems that the explanation of both option is equal.

What is the different between them?

What is the best practice?

Thank you,

Reut

Hi Reut,

Thanks for reaching out to support with your question.

As per the wiki, here are the definitions -

Custom Query: Create a list of values by caching the current contents of the field in the database using a custom SQL query.

Custom query cached on demand: Create a list of values by caching the current contents of the field using the custom SQL query each time the report is loaded.

It would depend on your environment and your report filtering needs as to which filter value list setup you would want to implement.

More info on filters can be found here -

Hi Reut,

with the "Custom Query On demand" feature - query is refreshed every time the report is run

as opposed to

Custom Query - query is refreshed when the "refresh" button is pressed

Does that help clarify things for you?

Hi, yes I understand.

Although the explanation is not intuitive.

I don’t really understand what is the meaning of cashing if the query run every time the report is open.

Regards,

Reut

A little bit,

But still it is difficult for me to see the all picture.

Is there a post explaining all options? With the differences between them?

Hi Reut,

The Filter Formatting wiki link has a list of all options, in this case see the Filter Settings - Entry Style section -

A previous ticket with a bit more context-
