Speed Up A Report Using Caching

Hi Support,

Have setup a report
Takes 60 seconds to run
Have put this on a DashBoard

20 Different Users look at this DashBoard each day

Using Schedule Management I run this Report 5AM Each Day
Which I think should Cache it

No user entered Filters on this Report
There are Filters but they are hard coded

However
When a user logs in it takes 60 Seconds to run
While logged in and ran a second time
Then only a couple of seconds

However
Logout and Log back in
It takes 60 Seconds again

Require
DashBoard / Report to be Cached at 5AM Each day
In theory doing this now
Hence
Users should get the Cached Version
Which should only take a few seconds

Yes it is OK that the Report is refreshed
Only once a day at 5AM

How would I set this up please ?

Thanks - Grant

Hi Support,

Should I expect a response ?
Or
Should I just delete / remove the question ?

Thanks - Grant

Hi Grant,

sorry for the delay - my colleague has been on leave however things are back to normal today. Yes what you described sounds strange, I am going to try and reproduce the issue over here, so could you please tell me version and build of Yellowfin this is occurring in? And also, to be precise I need to know if the caching is at the report level, report category level, or view level?

Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Version 6.3 29/08/2013

Report Cache
Periodically
Run 5AM Each Day and it is running

Report Category Level
Set to keep History for 7 Days

The View does not have any Caching settings

Just checked it all again
And still behaving the same as originally reported.

I am selecting a DashBoard
The report is on a DashBoard
I think maybe displaying it on the DashBoard is the problem

Thanks - Grant

Hi Grant,

we have been able to reproduce that issue over here, so I have raised a product defect (support task 145624) and will submit it to the developers to be allocated and fixed at the next meeting (Monday).

Apologies for any inconveniences caused.

Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Thanks for that

I look forward to the Fix

Thanks - Grant

Hi Dave,

Will this be resolved in the next release ?
Due
In the next few days

Thanks - Grant

Hi Grant,

I've just checked the status of the support task and it has already been allocated to a developer to be fixed, however, it hasn't been finished yet and now it's definitely too close to the release date to be finished and QA-ed, so it'll have to be for the October patch I'm afraid.

Sorry it couldn't be sooner than that.

Regards,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Sorry to reopen an old post however I was wondering if this patch that came through for v6.3 was also available for v6.2?

I'm experiencing a similar issue except my reports are taking upwards of 5 minutes to run (250-300 seconds)and the periodic run times aren't working (which are set daily for 2am) dont seem to have an effect at all.

Thanks,
Nathan
