Reset password email message

Hi there.

When a user users the Forgotten Password link on the homepage the message in the email they receive is "Your Yellowfin password has been reset. Your new password is: ..."

How can we change the content of this message?

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

You can change the application name 'Yellowfin' under the configuration table

IpOrg ConfigTypeCode ConfigCode ConfigData
1 SYSTEM APPNAME Yellowfin

Is this what you were after?
Or did you actually want to completely change the text and not just the application name?

Thanks,
David

I would like to change the entire text of the email... how is that done?

Hi Max,

This is not currently possible.
I have raised an enhancement request (TASK ID = 161950)to allow the entire text to be edited.

Out of curiosity, what would you like it changed to?

Regards,
David

Thanks David,

As you know, our use case is a bit different to the norm. I would like to flesh it out with more context and instructions for those less acquainted with the system. Something like:

As requested, your password for [Name of application] has been reset. Your new temporary password is [password].

Please log in at [URL of application] with this temporary password to set your preferred password.

Ultimately this system is open to anyone typing in an email address of a user and resetting that user's password - so a login link with token would be preferable to a straight password reset. However, all of this will be a moot point once we get our act together with LDAP.

Hi David,
I have a customer asking whether or not its possible to change the reset password email and also welcome email to something more customized.
Has the enhancement request (TASK ID = 161950) been implemented at all? or is there a workaround to edit a config file or create a an email template that's customized?

Hi Rebecca,

I'm just jumping in here as David is out of the office.

I had a look at the enhancement request you referenced above and unfortunately
it has yet to be addressed and remains 'unplanned'.

In terms of customizing the email template, this can be done on the initial login page, see this link.

Custom Login Page

But there is presently no option to have this customization be applied at the 'reset' page.

Please let us know if there is anything else.

Thank you,

Kyle

Thanks Kyle,

I'm still interested in being able to take control of the email template.

The link you provided only has instructions on taking control of the landing page and needs some more information to answer this question because:

- There is no example file for the email template in the /development/examples folder or subfolders
- I don't think the email template counts as a welcome page

I did find a reference to an email template in the struts-config-mi.xml

<action path="/MIEmailTemplate"
...

but I couldn't find it by file name in the installation directory.

I was just wondering if any progress has been made on TASK ID = 161950?

Hello,

It appears there has been no further progress on Enhancement Request # 161950 at present.

You're always welcome to discuss any Enhancement Requests with your YF Account Manager, if you believe it will assist with your continued usage of Yellowfin.

Kind Regards,

Danny

I am also interested in Enhancement Request # 161950 - I don't suppose there has been any further update since April?

Hi Janine,

Thanks for checking in, but unfortunately there's still no progress on this request at this time - apologies again.

Kind Regards,
