How to copy yellowfin to another server with the same hostname

Dear Yellowfin support,

I installed yellowfin on solaris machine and the machine is obsolete now so I would like to install yellowfin to the new server. I have questions are as below.
- Can I copy the whole folder of yellowfin and database?
- If I copy the whole folder of yellowfin and database, the name of server is the same, do the license will come along from the copy?
- If the license is not come along, how do I copy the license to the new server?
- If the license cannot be copied, how can I regenerate the license of yellowfin?

Hi Kamthon,

- Can I copy the whole folder of yellowfin and database?

Yes this would be possible if you are using the HSQL database. Though in order to do this, make sure the Yellowfin server is closed.
After copying the folder you will need to point to the correct installation, see this post for instructions on what needs to be modified:

If you are using SQL we suggest that you backup, reinstall and restore the database

- If I copy the whole folder of yellowfin and database, the name of server is the same, do the license will come along from the copy?

No the license does not come along

- If the license is not come along, how do I copy the license to the new server?

The license cannot be copied to the new server

- If the license cannot be copied, how can I regenerate the license of yellowfin?

We can generate a license for you, we will just need the hostname of the machine

Please let me know how you go.

Regards,

Steven
